AFARCC Club Meeting, March 2010

This month, the AFARCC club meeting is revisiting another location from earlier in the year, Heathcote Reserve. Since we started holding our monthly meetings away from our old clubrooms, we've tried a few different things, and over summer we decided that as long as the weather stayed good, we'd run some outdoor meetings, provided we could find venues that met a few basic requirements. These requirements were fairly simple, some basic lighting, adequate parking and some barbecue facilities were the most essential qualifications. It turns out that in a city the size of Perth, it's still not that easy to find parks that meet these basic requirements. A lot of councils either won't install lights near their barbecue facilities, or won't turn them on for fear that people may actually turn up and use the barbecues after dark.

One of the best parks we found while we were looking around, was Heathcote Reserve in Applecross, this park not only has good lighting, plentiful barbecue facilities and seating, but an awesome view and one of the best playgrounds for the kiddies (both big and small) around. For these reasons, we're planning on having another club meeting there this month, and we'll definitely be back next summer.

The meeting starts at 7pm, and as always, it's on the second Tuesday of the month, which is the 9th of March. As is the case with most AFARCC meetings, the 7pm start time is a guide only, and many of us will be there earlier than that. We'll be putting on a sausage sizzle for our members, and drinks will be available for a gold coin donation.
